Topics I address Include (but are not limited to):
- Identify developmental, social, emotional, diagnostic, and educational needs of children, youth, and adults
- Treatment of Emotional, Developmental and Executive Functioning Disorders and Challenges
- Assist parents in understanding and supporting their children’s/youth’s needs
- Teach children and youth strategies and coping mechanisms and engage parents in supporting their children in this process
- Develop new family interactions and build on family strengths
- Assist with life transitions and struggles (e.g. age groups, loss, blended families, illness. bullying, family changes, school stressors)
- Develop emotional and behavioral plans that both reflect the patient and family style, and are developmentally appropriate
- Build school and family partnerships (e.g. by attending parent teacher conferences, meeting with educational staff, partnering with school counselors, and reaching out to pertinent school team members)
